Round Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek will be one of the best trails of your lifetime. The vistas, surroundings, greenery, snow-capped peaks and waterfalls experienced in this course will exhilarate your heart. The panoramic view witnessed from this part of the world is truly amazing. And, despite being challenging trail we recommend you to take risk because it is worthy.

From cultural point of view, the trail is equally rewarding. Three indigenous groups of Nepal—Magar, Gurung and Thakali—are main inhabitants of the area. Each of their culture and tradition are unique and fascinating for you.

Dhaulagiri itself is seventh highest mountains of the world towering at an altitude of 8,167m. You will witness few more peaks of more than 7000m in this trail. It is a remote trek where you will get true picture of countryside Nepal.

You will cross many passes in this trek and the highest pass being French Pass—5360m. The trails leads you to the deepest gorge of the world—Dana. The gorge lies in between Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. The experience of hot springs here will rejuvenate you once again.

Notably, Dhaulagiri Trek is camping trek where you have to carry everything with you from food to kitchen utensils and including your bag pack. For your convenience we will manage local porter and guide who will surely make the trip memorable event of your life.

Namaste! Info Nepal Treks and Expedition heartily welcomes you to the city of temples – Kathmandu. We will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Our office representative will be there holding placard on which either client’s or company's name will be printed just opposite of the arrival and after your reception, we will drive to the hotel. After your arrival at the hotel, we fix the schedule for a short orientation meeting which gives you some general information about the trip and you will settle rest of the due payment at the same time. For this, you have to be with 3 P.P. size photographs, copy of passport and copy of travel insurance.

Overnight in hotel

    Your trip to Nepal formally starts from the second day. You will be visiting UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites—Bashantapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Bouddhanath, and Swoyambhunath.

    Kathmandu itself is a living museum and Bashantapur Durbar Square is a jewel of the crown. The site covers more than five hectares area protecting historical and cultural heritage. The site truly portrays the ancient face of Nepal and its wealthy culture and tradition. The palace called Hanuman Dhoka is the center of attraction. There are many chowks in the palace.

    There are many temples including Kumari Ghar (a house where living goddess resides) in the campus premises of Bashantapur Durbar Square.

    Pashupatinath is a popular site of Hindus where Lord Shiva is enshrined in the form of Linga known as ‘Shiva Linga’. The temple is built in pagoda style and is located in the bank of Bagmati River. It is reported that more than a million Hindus visit here at the time of Shiva Ratri—Lord Shiva’s birthday.

    Similarly, Bouddhanath is located on the north of Pashupatinath. It is the popular holy site of Buddhist. Bouddhanath is a stupa built structure which is the largest stupa of South Asia. The stupa is covered by the white wall where a small statue of Amitabh Buddha is attached. The locality of Boudhanath is also known as Little Tibet. The surrounding of the site resembles Tibetan culture and tradition.

    Furthermore, Swoyambhunath is another popular Buddhist site where more than hundred thousand spiritual based tourists visit every year. Swoyambhunath is a dome-like white structure. Many monks like in Bouddhanath pray here counting beads and rotating prayer wheels.

    After visiting aforementioned sites we will drive you back to the hotel. Here we will introduce you to the guide and other supporting staff who will accompany you in your Round Dhaulagiri Base Camp Trek. You will also get time to hire or purchase essential things required for trekking.

      It is a scenic ride of around 10 hours. You will be riding on Prithvi Highway enjoying the scenic view of the local area. You will enjoy the lush green vegetation and the river—Trishuli.

      Beni is around three-hour drive from Pokhara City of Lakes.

      Overnight in Beni

        Your trekking beings from today. After breakfast, we head ahead. You will pass through fields and traditional villages. Crossing few suspension bridge we carry on following the path of Myagdhi Khola (River). After five hours of the walk starting from Beni you arrive at Babiyachaur.

        Overnight in Babiyachaur

          Located at the west of Myagdi Khola there is a river and we cross it. We head towards north. The course will lead us to Phedi. ‘Bottom of the hill’ is the meaning of Phedi. We will be walking on leveled path till we arrive at one of the villages of Shahashradhara. We will cross Duk Khola (River). Passing through the fields we reach Ratorunga. From this point, the valley narrows.

          The trail goes on till we arrive at a village of Dharapani. In total, we will be walking for around six hours today.

          Overnight in Dharapani

            As usual, our trail begins after breakfast. We head towards Sibang followed by Mattim. We cross the river. Now, the up climb begins. With every increasing altitude, you will be blessed with the view of Dhaulagiri Peak and Gurja Himal. It is a truly beautiful moment! After the climbing, we enter into Muri. Magars are the inhabitant of this village.

            Overnight in Muri

              We will follow descend trail and walk on a gentle slope. Crossing the rocky stream, the path descends. You will enjoy the terraced fields until you get in Dhora Khola. Climbing rightwards starts after crossing the river. We are heading towards Gorbardandhara. The view witnessed from here is superb and appealing. Here you get amazing sight of Ghustung south. Following right bank course past Naura, we start ascending.

              We will be climbing for short span of time following the path that traverses through the steep grass covered cliff. It is a transversal high walk through winding path climbing the steep and grassy slope. Be careful while placing your feet!

              Climbing ends and we will be following descend shortly. Passing through the forest we get into ridge from where Baghara comes into sight.

              Overnight in Baghara

                The trail is challenging today. It is full of ups and downs. After walking for around five hours we get in our today’s last destination, Dobang.

                  Today’s trail will lead you to Italian Base Camp. It is at an altitude of 3660m. After mastering the challenging trail for seven hours we arrive at Italian Base Camp. Mountains views are abundant here. The view of Dhaulagiri west from here is astounding. We set camp at in front of the picturesque wall of Dhaulagiri.

                  Overnight in Italian Base Camp

                    It is a kind of leisure day. While on trekking this type of rest is essential for trekkers as it reduces the chances of being arrested by high altitude sickness. It helps to adjust your body with increasing elevation and this is known as acclimatization.

                    Despite rest day, we will be exploring Italian Base Camp today. The view of mountains is gorgeous. You will enjoy the snow-covered area and the nearby forests.

                    Overnight in Italian Base Camp

                      It takes around five hour to reach Glacier Camp from today’s starting point, Italian Base Camp. We cross the first glacier with the use of rope as the trail is tricky at some point. Further, we climb into the main glacier. Here also we will be walking in the support of the rope.

                      The surroundings on the way are astonishing. It will surely melt our heart and you fall into love with the beauty of this Himalayan nation.

                      Overnight at Glacier Camp

                        Initially, we will be following a rough path. Later we arrive at icy path of the glacier. The walk is tough but exciting and thrilling at the same time. Despite the toughness, you cannot deny the beauty of the trail. The steady climb will finally bring us at Dhaulagiri Base Camp. The view of Dhaulagiri is truly spectacular.

                        Overnight in Dhaulagiri Base Camp

                          Today’s trail will bring us at the highest altitude—5360m at French Col. We get off the glacier which is above the base camp. A rope is necessarily required here. For some time we will be in the steep rubble walls but later the trail starts getting less risky. The uphill climb to French Col is blissful as you get a splendid view of Hidden Valley from here. The sight gives you the glimpse of Tibet and Ladhak. Celebrate here goes to 20ºC at night.

                          Overnight in Hidden Valley

                            Passing through avalanche prone slope area we proceed ahead. The descending trail further is steep. We will be walking for around seven hours to get in Yak Kharka.

                              Following steep descend trail we arrive at Marpha today. The trail is easy in comparison to earlier days. You will enjoy this walk in the barren area. Encountering yak and sheep herds en route is fascinating. Finally, we get in Marpha.

                              Marpha is popular for an apple orchard and local made apple wine. People purchase apple wine as a souvenir from Nepal. Locals here depend on apple farming. Thakali are the main inhabitants of this area. They are popular for their hospitality. Most of them depend on hospitality based business especially, operating restaurants and homestays.

                                Walking on the flat path through forests we head towards Kalopani. It is another renowned Thakali village. You will witness Larjung Himal en route. This Himal is located near Dhaulagiri Glacier.

                                In the first spell of the trail, we get to pass through the windy forested area. Pine, rhododendrons, and birch are abundant here.

                                From Kalopani you witness splendid view of Dhaulagiri I—8167, Annapurna I—a8091 and Tukuche Peak—6920m.

                                  Following descend trail, we move on. We arrive at Rukse Chhahara. It is one of the largest waterfalls of Nepal. Witnessing this waterfall is really pleasing and heart soothing. Here you will be busy with your camera. At least, it is a selfie worth spot.

                                  At present, you are walking in the deepest gorge of the world at Dana. It is located in between Annapurna I and Dhaulagiri I. Both the mountains face each other. Passing through few villages we arrive at Tatopani. Hot spring is an English translation of Tatopani. You can take a dip in the hot spring here. It is said that the hot water of the spring is a cure for many skin related diseases.

                                    After few hours of walk from Tatopnai we arrive at Beni. We lunch here. From here we take a local bus to get in Pokhara.

                                    You will get some time to enjoy in Pokhara. Boating in Phewa Lake is a deserving event. Evening walk at Lakeside is equally pleasant.

                                    Overnight in Pokhara

                                      After breakfast we will be driving to Kathmandu. You will be riding through Prithvi Highway enjoying countryside Nepal. The will ride along the way of Trishuli River.

                                      Here in capital, you get ample of time to roam around especially, on the streets of Thamel. If interested, you can purchase gifts to your friend and family.

                                      Info Nepal Treks and Expedition will offer you farewell dinner tonight.

                                      Overnight in hotel

                                        Your Nepal stay ends from today. A representative of Info Nepal Treks and Expedition will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport three hours earlier to you scheduled flight.
