Langtang Valley Trek is popular as a moderate trekking trail in Nepal in Langtang region. This is the most preferred trekking trail in this region. Langtang Valley Trekking takes us to mesmerizing Langtang Valley and provides us an opportunity to view Langtang and Lirung.

Namaste! Info Nepal Treks and Expedition heartily welcomes you to the city of temples – Kathmandu. We will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport. Our office representative will be there holding placard on which either client’s or company's name will be printed just opposite of the arrival and after your reception, we will drive to the hotel. After your arrival at the hotel, we fix the schedule for a short orientation meeting which gives you some general information about the trip and you will settle rest of the due payment at the same time. For this, you have to be with 3 P.P. size photographs, a copy of passport and a copy of travel insurance.

Overnight in hotel

    Your trip to Nepal formally starts from the second day. You will be visiting UNESCO listed World Heritage Sites—Bashantapur Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Swoyambhunath.

    Kathmandu itself is a living museum and Bashantapur Durbar Square is the jewel of the crown. The site covers more than five hectares area protecting historical and cultural heritage. The site truly portrays the ancient face of Nepal and its wealthy culture and tradition. The palace called Hanuman Dhoka is the center of attraction. There are many chowks in the palace.

    There are many temples including KumariGhar (the house where living goddess resides) in the campus premises of Bashantapur Durbar Square.

    Pashupatinath is the popular site of Hindus where Lord Shiva is enshrined in the form of Linga known as ‘Shiva Linga’. The temple is built in pagoda style and is located in the bank of Bagmati River. It is reported that more than a million Hindus visit here at the time of Shiva Ratri—Lord Shiva’s birthday.

    Similarly, Bouddhanath is located on the north of Pashupatinath. It is the popular holy site of Buddhist. Bouddhanath is a stupa built structure which is the largest stupa of South Asia. The stupa is covered by the white wall where a small statue of Amitabh Buddha is attached. The locality of Boudhanath is also known as Little Tibet. The surrounding of the site resembles Tibetan culture and tradition.

    Furthermore, Swoyambhunath is another popular Buddhist site where more than hundred thousand spiritual based tourists visit every year. Swoyambhunath is a dome-like white structure. Many monks like in Bouddhanath pray here counting beads and rotating prayer wheels.

    After visiting aforementioned sites we will drive you back to the hotel. Here we will introduce you to the guide and other supporting staff who will accompany you on your Langtang Valley Trek. You will also get time to hire or purchase essential things required for trekking.

    Overnight in a hotel

      After driving for around seven hours from Kathmandu we arrive at Syafrubesi. While on the ride you will get an opportunity to witness picturesque view of countryside Nepal.

      Overnight in Syafrubesi

        Our trail begins after breakfast. We arrive at Wangal. Following steep climb, we move on and this brings us to Khumjung village. After walking for another half an hour we arrive at Surkha. From here begins thick forest. We also have to pass through uphill climb before reaching at Syarpogoan.

        Overnight in Lama Hotel

          As usual, we begin our trail after breakfast. Walking for around five hours we reach Ghoratabela. We proceed again and after half an hour of walk from Ghoratabela we will at a place from where begins Langtang Valley. We will be walking for another three hours to be at a place in Langtang Valley where we will put off at night.

          Overnight in Langtang Valley

            Kyanjing Gompa is just an hour walk from Langtang Valley. You will enjoy the local area and the peaks in distance will drive you crazy.

            Overnight in Kyanjing Gompa

              Our trail begins after breakfast and we will be retracing the same route which we followed earlier to arrive at Kyanjing Gompa.

              Overnight in Lama Hotel

                It downhill climbs today leaving Sherpagaun back. We cross dense forest to reach Surkha. The further walk will take us at village and from here we will follow the downhill trail. We arrive at Wangal followed by Syafrubeshi.

                Overnight in Syafrubeshi

                  After driving for around seven hours from Syafrubensi we arrive at Kathmandu. While on the ride you will get the opportunity to witness picturesque view of countryside Nepal.If you arrive Kathmandu earlier, you will have plenty of time to explore more of Kathmandu or simply search for gifts and souvenirs.

                  In the evening, you will enjoy farewell dinner and exchange your experience of the entire trip with us.

                  Overnight in hotel

                    Your Nepal stays end today. A representative of Info Nepal Treks and Expedition will drop you at Tribhuvan International Airport three hours earlier to your scheduled flight.

                      Langtang Valley Trek Accommodation and Food

                      The accommodation in this trekking will be a teahouse accommodation. Teahouse accommodation will be a normal type of accommodation. Normally, these teahouses are made of wooden planks and the toilets are outside. But the rooms are very clean. Local people own these tea houses. This accommodation will on the basis of twin sharing. Previously, the earthquake destroyed the local villages of Langtang area but now rebuilt.

                      The food items are provided according to the items mentioned in the menu. Do not expect to enjoy all variety of food items that are found in the major cities like Kathmandu and Pokhara. Normally, one item of the food costs $4-8. Nepali food items and bread will be a staple food in this region. Continental, Asian, Indian, Nepali, Tibetan, some Japanese and Chinese foods are available in these local teahouses/lodges.

                      Langtang Valley Trek Transportation

                      All we use to connect the Langtang Region from Kathmandu is road transportation. We either have to use a public bus or private jeep. We do not get a luxury bus service from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi. It takes around 7-8 hours drive to get Syabrubensi from Kathmandu. The road is the country road. The public bus/jeep leave from Machhapokhari, Kathmandu. If you hire private jeep, then, it will come to pick you up from the hotel where you stay. No domestic flights connect the trailhead of Langtang Valley Trek, Syabrubesi from Kathmandu.

                      Langtang Valley Trek Best Time to Trek

                      The best time to trek to Langtang Valley between September to mid of November. However, trekkers love to trek in the Langtang region during March and April. This is spring and we have flowering rhododendron which makes the entire hill stunning.

                      Both Spring or Autumn offer you the best times of the year with remarkably astounding views of the landscapes and mountain panorama for your Langtang Valley Trek. Moreover,

                      Langtang Valley Trek Starting and Ending Point

                      We begin Langtang Valley Trekking after 8-10 hours drive from Kathmandu to Syabrubensi.We drive through magnificent country landscapes and local villages on the way. Actually, we pass through the settlements like, Tapoban, Kakani and Trishuli Bazaar. Before arriving at Syabrubesi, we pass Dhunche too which is is the trailhead of Gosainkunda Trek. And we again drive from Syabrubensi to Kathmandu and end our trek.

                      Required Permits

                      Trekkers require obtaining two different types of permits for Langtang Valley Trek. These are TIMS Card (Trekking Information Management System) and Langtang National Park Area Entry Permit. If you can go and visit Nepal Tourism Board Office on your own, you can collect them, or, you travel partner will help you collecting these permits before you depart for the trek. TIMS Card costs USD 10 and Langtang National Park Area Entry Permit costs USD 30.

                      How difficult is Langtang Valley Trek?

                      Langtang Valley Trekking is a moderate adventure in Langtang region of Nepal. It takes you to the highest elevation of 3430m through Ghoda Tabela (3008m) and Lama Hotel (2470m). Trekking up to 3500m is considered to be a mild trekking. However, it can, sometimes, be challenging if you haven’t prepared comprehensibly especially for the beginners. Even, the beginners can do Langtang Valley Trek but have to prepare very well.

                      Trekkers who are undertaking this trek have to have the experience of short hiking/day hiking/ walking ups and downs at least for 5-6 hours consistently. To avoid the sudden incidents on the trail, one has to boost up the level of stamina and confidence. Another important thing to prepare for Langtang Valley trek is trekking equipment. It means, one must pack up and should be armored with very reliable trekking equipment and all other necessary stuffs before you depart for the venture.

                      Altitude sickness, acclimatization and preparations

                      Of course, there are a few cases of altitude sickness with the trekkers every year on the trail while ascending up to Langtang Valley. But it is not common to all. Actually, if the trekkers are not prepared well and they consume contaminated food and water, they may get altitude sickness. Also, if the trekkers get the new elevation quickly without proper acclimatization, they may get it. Actually, we don’t have to spend a spare day for acclimatization during this trek while ascending up to the Langtang Valley because it is not necessary to acclimatize your body if you are undertaking a trekking trip below 4000m.

                      What happens if you we get altitude sickness? You have got fever, stomach ache, diarrhea, lightheadedness, headache, vomiting etc. If these problems go worse, then, you had not better continue the trek and you must walk down or take rest at the place where you are. If you feel you at risk and ask your guide to arrange for the rescue and you will immediately be evacuated to the nearest city where you can have a good treatment.

                      The Ways of Avoiding Altitude Sickness

                      • Prepare and pack up the right and reliable trekking gear
                      • Avoid drinking contaminated water from local taps and river
                      • East fresh food items
                      • Do not smoke and drink a lot
                      • Address any kind of serious illness if you have beforehand the trek
                      • Ascend with the right pacing and have proper acclimatization
                      • Tell your guide if you have any sudden problems in your health
                      • Just relax, be confident and have plenty of hot drinks

                      How will be the guide and the porters?

                      The guide you will be accompanying will be highly experienced and professional with a trekking license. He/she will very literate in particular language so that won’t be any misunderstanding in communication between the leader the other trekkers. Moreover, he/she will be very hospitable, coordinating, very familiar with local people and their culture, mountain peaks, flora and fauna, religious and historical sites and the weather forecast.

                      The porters will be very responsible to the trekkers. They will take care of you all and carry your stuffs and equipment walking next to you at every step of your trek. The porters also will communicate you somehow because they also know little English or other languages, at least, to communicate, but not very well.
