Info Nepal Trekking organizes Chulu East Summit expedition in combination with trekking in Annapurna region, one of classic trekking route in Nepal. Chulu East Peak climbing is perfect for those experienced trekkers and alpinists who seek demanding trekking peaks in Annapurna region with ultimate challenge. The entire climbing expedition offers thrilling climbing and trekking experience of lifetime with excellent Himalayan and Tibetan plateau views.

No doubt, Chulu East is one of physically demanding trekking in Nepal; thus climbers needs to be physically sound and previous trekking and mountaineering would be great assets. It is heavily glaciated and there are no easy way up to the summit. The majority of climbing route to Chulu East Peak is concerned with rope walk together in route including the glacial passage. Chulu Peak climbing is rated as PD+ under French/Swiss Alpine Climbing System which refers a “Per Difficule” walking on rocks and glaciers with some technical difficulties.

Chulu East Climbing route offers diversity of landscapes and promise the discovery of authentic cultural people and their lifestyle living in secluded region of Himalayas. The trekking route to Chulu East Peak begins from Besishahar; 7 hour drive west from Kathmandu valley. We walk across the beautiful settlements of Dharapani and Chame to Pisang and Hongde village of lush Buddhist culture. The peak lies high above the Manang valley in the vicinity of Annapurna massifs with wonderful view of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Glacier Dome, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho Peak and Manaslu.

Under direct supervision and great support of expert guiding team, we summit the peak of Chulu East which offers us overwhelming experience and with life-time memories, you trek downhill to join Annapurna circuit trail and continue towards Thorong La Pass at 5,416m.

From here, we drop off to Mustang valley and continue towards Poonhill via Kagbeni, Jomsom, Marpha, Kalopani and Tatopani. A pre-hike to Poon Hill offers the spectacular view of sunrise and stretching view of Himalayan ranges. You can shorten the trip at Jomsom by catching short flight to Pokhara.

A medical trained and experienced trekking group leader will accompany your trip to Chulu East peak expedition. We will be well-equipped with proper safety backups like oxygen and medical box in case of any problem that may arise in high altitude.

After completion of passport, immigration and visa formalities, our airport representative will meet outside the terminal hall. Please look for our treks and expedition display card. He will transfer you to your hotel: afternoon free. Evening: Welcome dinner, introduction to your expedition guide and summery on next day’s trip.
Overnight at hotel in Kathmandu

    Today, your guide and other climbing staff will meet you early in the morning at your hotel lobby. After breakfast, we take a drive to Besishar located about 185 km north of Kathmandu valley. Along the way, we enjoy the stunning views of snow-capped mountains, emerald hills and rivers (Trishuli and Marshyangdi, both are famous white water river rafting spot in Nepal).

      Today, we start our trekking with great introduction to different cultural practices of Nepal. We walk through many typical Nepali style houses and experience authentic culture and lifestyle. The trail meanders through forested route and follows rice terrace of Sera to reach the village of Khudi (840m). The final part of trail is quite challenging but the astounding view compensate it.

        After breakfast, we make a downhill trail through the cultivated fields and cross hanging bridge to the next side of Marshyangdi River. We follow Marshyangdi River and cross waterfall near Jagat. Chamje is located just beyond waterfall.

          After breakfast, we climb down to the river and cross the suspension bridge to make an uphill ascend to Sattale (1550m). The trail further continues through zigzag route and from Tal Beshi, the trail makes steep climb up to the hill for about 20 minutes. We enjoy the great scenery of waterfalls and surrounding area in Tal (1700m). The trail continues through the winding path and reach the village of Karte (1900m). Walking for one and half hour through the flat motor-road, we finally reach Dharapani.

            After breakfast, we follow the north-west trial and walk along the River Marshyangdi. We then make uphill climb through the Tibetan and Gurung settlement before entering into the village of Bagarchhap and Danakyu. Next, we make steep ascend through forested ridge to reach Timang (2720m). The view of Mt. Manaslu and Annapurna II is majestic. Then, we walk through the thick forest of pine to Thanchok and Koto and finally reach Chame, the district headquarter of Manang. Here we get rewarded with the views of Annapurna II, Manaslu and Lamjung Himala.
            Overnight in Chame

              Today, we walk through the forested route of pine forest alongside of Marsyangdi River to reach Talekhu (2720m) and Bhartang (2850m). Then the we follow the trail enjoying the hissing sound of river and mountain view to reach south bank of Marshyangdi via suspension bridge. Afterwards, we make a long and gentle climb through beautiful pine forest to reach Dhukar Pokhari and follow the peace and sandy flat trail to Pisang.
              Overnight in Pisang

                After breakfast, we ascend towards Tibetan-styled village Bryaga (3500m) through the forest of pine and juniper. Here we witness many traditional houses and observe the lifestyle of local people. We also explore old monastery perched on a high crag overlooking the village. Next, we walk further through the arid countryside festooned with different rock formation to reach our final destination of Manang village.

                  Today, we leave the Annapurna circuit main trail behind and follow the route to Chulu East Base Camp. En route, we stop at Ngawal for lunch and head for Chulu Base Camp. We walk along the vertical pastures to a suitable hollow where the field combines into rock.

                    After breakfast, we ascend straight north to the high camp following the snow slopes. As we climb, few more peaks comes into the view. Upon reaching Chulu high camp, you get the rare feelings of getting to the top of the world. Our climbing leader provides you the basic climbing techniques and teach you the best way of using climbing gears.

                      Today we set a day aside for proper acclimatization at a higher altitude. This day also allows us to get prepared and arrange our trekking gears.

                        Today we begin pre-dawn climb to stunning Chulu East Peak. It is the most thrilling and beautiful day indeed. The view of Annapurna massifs is incredible for the summit. We enjoy sometimes on the top of Chulu East Peak and descend along the vertical slopes down to the base camp.

                          From base camp, we retrace our step back to Manang via same route we used previously.

                            Today, we join the main Annapurna circuit trail or Thorong La trekking trail. We continue towards Letdar where climb uphill about 800m. The trek offers incredible view of Annapurna II, III, IV, Gangapurna, Tilicho, Tarekekang and several over peaks. The teahouse in Churi Letdar is very basic.

                              From Letdar, we continue through the narrow valley of Kone Khola to reach Phedi. It is the base camp of Thoring La Pass. Today’s walk involves short hiking as we need to save energy for tommorow’s Thorong La expedition.

                                Today is another thrilling and adventurous journey. We begin very early to summit the top of Thorong La Pass. It is about 900m climb in more than 5000m altitude. Through the journey is exhausting and strenuous, the payback, once you reach the top, is incredible. It offers the incredible view great Himalayan peaks.
                                Next, we walk downhill to the valley of Muktinath. It is one of popular pilgrimage sites for both Hindus and Buddhist. Mukitnath is described as the God of Salvation who helps to cleanse the sins attained in lifetime. Flocks of tourist and pilgrim visit this sacred every year.

                                  We pay homage to temple in the morning. There are 108 waterspouts at the back of temple which is considered as the holy tap. We also surroundings of the temple complex. After this, we trek downhill to Kagbeni – the main gateway to Upper Mustang.

                                    From Kagbeni, we follow the bank of Kali Gandaki River to the village of Marpha. On the way, we cross Jomsom, the place where only airport is situated. If you want to shorten the trip, you can fly back to Pokhara.

                                      After breakfast, we hike to Kalapani via fairly leveled and easy path. We follow the riverbed of Kali Gandaki and walk through the flat sandy and sometimes windy route.

                                        After breakfast, we follow downhill trail to Tatopani (which means hot water in Nepali dialect). We soothe at hot spring located nearby the back of Kali Gandaki River to relax our tired muscle.

                                          After breakfast, we follow the trailhead to Ghorpani, the popular town known for cultural treasure and sunrise view over the Himalayan horizon.

                                            After breakfast, we make pre-dawn hike to Poonhill to enjoy the dramatic sunrise view and spectacular Himalayan range – Dhaulagiri, Annapurna massifs, Machhapuchhre, Hiuchuli and more. After exploration, we hike down to Tikhedhunga which is quite long trail but easy with most downhill sections.

                                              Today is last day of our trekking. We trek down to Nayapul and drive to Pokhara.

                                                From Pokhara, you can either drive or fly to Kathmandu, the choice is yours. The drive takes 7 hours along the emerald mid hill scenery. Flight takes 25 minutes and offers the aerial view verdant hills, river, villages and Himalayan ranges. Upon, arrival at Kathmandu, you will be transferred to your hotel. After refreshment, you will attend farewell dinner organized by Info Nepal Trekking to celebrate the successful completion of the trek.

                                                  Your 26 days East Chulu Peak Climbing comes to an end today. Our airport representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your final departure.
